Sorry but I say make it illegal that there should not be allowed that politicians run their campaigns on getting the money from "lobbyists". Take out the lobbysits and lets see! Lets see the politicians actually run on their own money. Take away the tobacco companies the oil companies the oh yeah Wall Street. Lets see these politicians Dems or Rebubs run on their own monies or contributions from just everyday Joe. Hmmm????

Ah, Brian Darling admitted it! Wealth inequality is a natural result of capitalism. Bush/Reagen era jobs? were low paying service jobs & a stagnation of wages overall while prices for goods soared. Many businesses, incl farm/ranch food production, went overseas. Bus. know they destroyed their consumer base in America & are now leaving for greener pastures. Unfettered capitalism has crippled us as a country. We need democratic businesses not insatiable monopolies.

@jd007200 like govts, industrial complexes have managed 2 convince us that we need them, when the exact opposite is true. after all, hospitals&insurance comps don't make $ without us. besides, a cure=no profits, so they strive 2 keep us sick.

we must lower consump.&increase prod. 2 realize our true worth. we R very powerful but our power is at the local level

there's much we can do, like move toward local economies&alt currencies (time banks, silver). energy independence is key, too.

Interesting idea, you're right I don't think a universal heathcare system would work here in the states, even though I wish it did... but that's my own personal perference. However, I like your idea of heathcare pool funds. The main thing is we have to strip the power from the mega heath and insurance conglomerates. Cause they would never allow such a system. and that means regulations,,, I don't know any other way to stop their tyranny...

@jd007200 US is 2 large&2 diverse 4 universal healthcare 2 work. There R some alternatives out there, like healthcare pool funds (if that's what they're called) and more mom-and-pop-type services. They're not widely available ATM, & something like a universal system would surely wipe them out. Who's to say that U & I and say 50 other people can't pool our money together to pay for healthcare costs? Insurance comp work for profit&their risk calculation is on point. We pay more than we get...

I also thought Obamacare was a pile of BS... And you are abolutley right the bailouts were socialism, at its worst... However, wouldn't mind having a universal heathcare system but with the corruption in this country, I am certain it would be a disaster and thus wouldn't work. However, I'f you want the free market we have to crack down on these greedy corps which are strangling all other forms of competition. No more tax breaks for the rich!!!

@jd007200 Well, actually...Obamacare is a socialist measure, as is these shmucks giving themselves bonuses and getting bailed out. That's socialism at it's finest!

I personally don't care to pay 40-50% income tax to live in a socialist society with "free" healthcare. You do realize that's what they pay? The Free Market, which we don't have, can provide all the services necessary. We can provide our own insurance, while maintaining a free market. Full on socialism is no different than fascism.
