  • Both mustelidae (weasels, badgers, wolverines, ...) and procyonidae (raccoons, kinkajous, ...) are part of the superfamily musteloidea, along with mephitidae (skunks) and ailuridae (red pandas). Their closest relations outside this superfamily are the bears (ursoidea). They are all part of the caniformia, the "dog-like" carnivores.

    Plus their hair isn't spiky enough.
