looks cool, have you looked at rocket stoves?
-
Yeah! At last a real thing! I'm planning to build a J frame rocket stove into my tepee (vid coming). They use less wood and can be made entirely out of clay.

Cool, thanks for sharing

how well does the clay and ashes woork for mortar

@carolinasurvival It worked well for something I did not intend to stay there forever. I am moving soon. When I leave I have to leave the spot almost as I found it. If this had been built on my own land I would have used mortar mix... I would not have to move the tepee there. The whole thing is under reconstruction now, so I can run a water line through to heat the hot tub. It was not real easy to take down. I had trouble bending to put the wood in. I am not a spring chicken, haha...

Wow, what a great stoveplace! Did you finish the stove now? How will you be able to transform it, the stones for the front won't be cemented together? I love how you made your own morter!

Thanks Nancy!
The stove is almost finished! In the front i have been using an old cookie sheet for the stove door. I want to buy a stove kit door, or find an old wood stove door for the front.
The stones keep the heat for a LONG time!
