In 1952, Gavriil Ilizarov, a Soviet surgeon unknown to anybody, presented a revolutionary device — an external apparatus for repairing bone fractures. His invention provided the best conditions for bone knitting. It was clear that Ilizarovs method had a good chance of success, but his path to recognition and worldwide fame was long and difficult.
I cannot believe ANYONE would CHOOSE to have this. I'm 24 and had a fixator on my left leg when I was 12 as I had a badly bowed leg. I'm left with scars now which have slowly faded, but I'd never, ever wish for that again or wish it on anyone.

@rhysfoley09 i totally agree, I wouldn't wish this on anyone I have to have one because my right leg is shorter than the other and I have a mishapen femur, Anyone who wan'ts this done needs to have their head examined.
