It's worth noting the Freddy the Freshman theme can be heard in several later Warner Brothers shorts.

Freddy looks quite a bit like the nameless dog in Fleischer's "Betty Co-ed", released just a year before. It can't be a coincidence, what with the migration of talent freely between studios and the artists' judicious "borrowing" from each other.
