I love this song. I play flute, hence my username. And piccolo. I hate how the clarinets sound overtake the flutes , though. I also play saxophone. That part is pretty boring. Our trumpets can't get the triple tonguing down.

Okay trumpets with the triple tonguing.

Phew. Wonderful recording. My high school is playing this song, and I play flute. I will admit the 16th note runs are difficult, but they are a blast to play. Thanks for posting :D
Could be the analog tape to old LP to digital conversions.
Or being a H.S. Band with a "million" cl., but only 6 fl.... they don't stand a chance really.
Or perhaps the conductor preferred the cl. to lead while the fl. are there not necessarily to be "heard", but to take the edge off the cl. (I prefer less cl. in many marches)

I think it's some of all, nevertheless it's good to read a comment that refers to musical rather than mathematical interpretation.
(many composers no not what a Saxophone is capable of in the right hands, so they end up playing footballs)

Good to see an old performance appreciated, even if it was recorded to analog tape and cheaply pressed to an LP.

the flute and clarinets 16th notes are very slopy

@franpanda91
How dare those 14-18 yr. olds have slopy [sic] notes.
Perhaps they might do better after 35 years of practice.
