Naumagia in Retiro Park, Madrid (2)

The "Naumachia" is a dramatic naval battle recreation created during the Roman Empire where they were represented at the Coliseum and theaters. Three hundred years ago and following this Roman heritage, our Baroque Madrid ancestors, put back in fashion this kind of entertainment in the same space where we can now enjoy: the Retiro Park pond. Today named as "Naumagia" (Naumagic) this marvellous spectacle is included into the festivity program of Saint Isidro (which is the protector of the city) Written and directed by Santiago Ruiz, this multicolour performance is a multimedia spectacle with awesome and fascinating games of light, water, projections, beautiful music and, off course, fire. This video shows the ending part of the performance ans you will enjoy not only the astonishing light spectacle but the marvellous music of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (The abduction in Serrallo)

Guau Manuel, ya veo que debiste irte sobre las siete para coger el sitito tan centrado. Estuve el Sábado pasado, llegué a las 9 y aún así estába apretujadita entre un montón de gente.... Precioso revivirlo, que pena que no hayas cogido los hologramas (o como se llamen!) pues las escenas de la bailarina y el caballo eran preciosas... Buen trabajo Madrileño!!! Francisca
