A welsh Children's hymn about a little soldier fighting his way in the world while growing up. Featuring pictures of my son Ryan named for Ryan Giggs.
English Translation:
I am a little soldier, and learn to wield a sword
To fight till death will take me,
Right loyal to my Lord. I am a little pilgrim Just starting on my way
O! Guide me, gracious Saviour To Thy eternal day "Jesus Dear, be ever near, Through the war's confusion, Swords shall cease, we shall sing in peace, Calm in heavn's seclusion"
2nd verse:
I am a little Christian, In Jesus I believe; O! give me grace, my Saviour, When fears around me weave. My little hands are feeble, But, Jesus, grant to me, Some work for feeble fingers, Some word to do for Thee. "Jesus Dear, be ever near,... ...Calm in Heaven's seclusion."
This is one of many, many songs written by the great Joseph Parry in the 19th century. I cant seem to find this one anywhere on the Net, it seems to be a bit rare.
A beautiful song that I had not heard before. Thank you.

Its from a Welsh American songbook. Ive never heard it performed before either. There are several very beautiful children's songs and lullabys in Welsh that I have never heard played by anyone else, though someone must play them somewhere.
