With my Droid X's recent (and unfortunate) demise, and the release of the Galaxy Nexus no small amount of time away, i've been forced to resurrect my A5IT. It really is a shame that there's no 2.2/2.3 firmware that isn't lacking in some way...

pliss help me!! I have an Archos. 5 but i can't install froyo... i don't know!!

I have been trying to boot this onto my Archos 5 IT with no luck. Now when I turn it on it freezes on the openaos screen. I know I am doing the steps right I think i just have either messed up or wrong files. So I was wondering if you could please email me the files that you used (intamfs, zimage, froyo a5 image, along with the cramfs and system folders) since you got yours working. It would be a huge help so please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you for your time.

@weecmcnic yes it really is a shame......this (in part) has ruined my experience with Archos. My next device most probably won't be another Archos. Of course I did pick up the 5 IT quite early in terms of development of the Android OS but still......

Can you download other music and video players from the market? Will they work?

@saden007 I can't get android market to work on my device....but again I think it is subjective, cuz I know of others who have succeeded. If you can get it installed then you can give it a try.
