That's hilarious, looks like a glitch in the copy of the game. I've had that happen hundreds of times. One of my favorite games though.

When you get your bonus level up option, don't use it right away. Wait until you get to level 50. It's been years since I played it but that's how I remember doing it.

Favorite game of all time. Zhao Yun owns everything in this game!! Also, Red Hare didnt work for me. Anyone else have that problem?

no idea if ur still looking for a response to this question, but it takes a while XD u get lvl 51 by getting to lvl 50 through normal fighting. then when u get to lvl 50, you go to ji zhou (the castle u kill yuan shao for) and only then do u use the guy in the hut outside the town. he'll raise u to 51. hope this helps. ^^
