I saw Nanci in concert the year this release came out and she said that this was an unfinished Buddy Holly song. The jacket cover states that it was written by Charles Hardin (Buddy Holly) & J. I. Allison

Lyrics:

Chorus:
Tell my how to keep your love
You know how I need your love
Tell me how
You keep the love within your heart from me

Don't you know that I love you
Let me show why I'm true blue
And when I know a love is true
Don't keep your love from me

If you would say to me today
The time for love is now
Could I sway your love my way
Then I say... tell me how

Chorus

If you would say to me today
The time for love is now
Could I sway your love my way
Then I say... tell me how

Chorus

ending with...
Tell me how you keep your love
Within your heart from me

  • I wish Buddy could have heard what a stunning interpretation Nanci Griffith achieved with what was admittedly an unremarkable (for him) original.

  • @ALEMAPSAPP BE HAPPY YOU'RE NOT THEM. JUST ENJOY THE TINY MIGHTY ONE

  • HOW CAN ANYONE PUT A DISLIKE ON THIS SONG OR ANY OTHERS BY NANCI THEY MUST BE VERY SAD

  • "Dust Bowl Symphony" is a 1999 release?

Where have I been... running with blisters across the unforgiving Sahara... chasing Antarctic volcanoes for research purposes... or otherwise, somehow, someway, clandestinely squandering my brief time on this earth? My insouciance, here, is clearly breath-taking. And at least one fan will surely castigate me for such neglect.

Holly's tenderness informs each juicy note.

All the glory is yours, sweet Buddy.

  • Wonderfull cover version--best ever of a Holly song. I think she got this arrangement from Bobby Vee

  • @palbook The best cover version of a Buddy Holly Song ever !!! Play it often on my radio show---Wish she would do a whole album of holly Covers
