G1 Tips And Tricks - How To Get Google Navigation On The G1 1.6

THANKS TO THE XDA DEVELOPERS FOR THIS OPORTUNAITY TO HAVE GOOGLE NAVIGATION SO SOON.

In this video i show you how to get google navigation on the google g1 (THIS IS FOR UK AND EUROPE USERS)

For Non Root Users -

Step 1. download http://ul.to/18fckr/Maps3.2.1-patched-no-root.apk

Step 2. Install the apk file: Using Linda File Manager

Step 3. Link To Image For Barcode Scanner - http://g1tipsandtricks.weebly.com/uploads/2/1/6/1/2161279/3507758.png

Step 4. once downloaded the app then use it to navigate your way round UK and Europe

when i open the apk and go on package installer it just says there is a problem parsing the package.. any ideass?

Hmm , i would try first reinstalling linda file manager . if it still doesent work then go to the link in the sidebar where it says 'For Root Users Follow This Link ' and follow the instructions for non root users :) . if it still doesent work message me and i will try and help you further

cheers mate it now lets me start the install but it just says maps could not be installed on this phone.

Hmm thats wierd , i think it could be because you will already have google maps installed on your phone , what you need to do it go to the market and uninstall google maps , then restart the whole install i show in the video , this should work , if it doesent then im afraid you will just have to wait for google to release navigation later on next year :/

will this work on a canadien my touch with 1.5. In canada we havent been able to upgrade to 1.6 yet.

what they need to do is make the notification bar transparent and have mulit touch and pinch zoom..dat shud be the next update

I think this has been disabled for non-US users, even using the hack. After successfully using it a couple of times, all I get now is the route is not available. :(
