This is the composition in which Josky found his style, defined his artistic identity within O.K. Jazz, grew up.

In Fariya, Josky used a rhythm that was inspired by an Angolan group called San Salvador. This rhythm would return in many variations in his compositions since.

We hear him sing with a newly found confidence, toghether with Youlou Mabiala, Ndombe Opetum and possibly Lukoki Diatho.

In the first part of the song, Franco plays the fills after every vocal line, then in the second part, the reeds play the fills during the chorusses and the copper during Josky's solos.

With Ntoya - batterie (mainly hi-hat), Dessoin - percussion, rhythm guitar - possibly Makosso (otherwise Gégé Mangaya), "solo guitar" - maybe Gerry Dialungana, bass - Mpudi Decca or Flavien Makabi.

Comments by Josky recorded in 1991, Bxl.

  • @abou...actually Pavarotti was not a composer just a tenor.... was just comparing their clear sweet voices

  • @chahenza And I was pointing out that, on a creative level, the Italian cannot hold a candle to Josky. Not as a singer either, in my book, but, OK, that's subjective.

  • What a great tenor ..............Africa's equivalent to Europe's Luciano Pavarotti

  • Did Pavarotti write his own songs?

  • If this was classical music, this piece will a concerto grosso.

The voices, the instruments, the harmnoy, all is so rich anf feels organ of your listening apparatus

  • The song reminds me of those days when we use to dance with my late brothers: Mang'al sing, Baba Gaston,Fred Ochieng and Felix Wagire .Please, get me HONDA by TPOK.

    Piny osiko to oksikie!

  • I swear Kiambukuta - you should thank God for giving you such a gift - that voice can surely calm a nasty beast!! I saw a picture of you smoking, please for all our sakes, I hope you don't anymore. I'd hate to see you being robbed of that voice. Where do you play these days? Even if it's on the Moon, I'll be there. God bless!
