my philosophy is that if you going to use a rifle use something bigger like 7.62, i heard stories always with the 556 where they are shot but they dont go down and keep fighting. she should try a semi auto shotgun. after all one of those and you dont get a tiny hole in your stomach more like your stomach explodes. plus you will be closer than that unless your house is huge. i would like a revolver because its smaller and hollow points hurt

@Nationofhonor Agreed. As some shotguns may be too heavy, or too much recoil for some persons. If self-defense is a major issue, in Amurrica, one can pay a 200 dollar tax stamp to go to a 12" shotgun barrel, which is wider spread and is better for home usage, where one won't be further than 5 meters.

Maybe start off with a 410 then work up to a 12 or 16 gauge, I personally believe shotguns are the best for home defense a they don't go thru walls easily and they spread. But I guess to each their own.
