I was on E-bay, looking for Connie's "The Best of Everything" (it's the title theme song of a very short lived 1970 afternoon soap opera from ABC), when this record caught my eye. Actually, the Enterprise label caught my eye since I knew the label was a subsidiary of Stax Records and I had thought Connie recorded for two labels: Chart and ABC.
The a-side, It's You, was written and produced by Larry Butler. According to the 45, it was recorded and released in April 1974. The history of Love is So Elusive is not so clear. Larry also did the production but according to Praguefrank's Country Music Disographies, this was the title of Connie's last single release for Chart Records (released in December 1973). Since I don't have this particular record, I'll have to assume the Enterprise Records version is a remake even though it sounds like something she recorded for Chart. I like both sides, even though It's You, to me anyway, is very, very sad.
