This hailstorm cause millions of dollars worth of damage. The storm lasted 15 minutes, the hail was falling for about 5 minutes, but as you can hear it was falling hard and fast

As seen on TV 1's "Tonight", TV1's "Breakfast" show and played in full on TV3 News

Now also on nzherald.co.nz and of course, weatherwatch.co.nz

  • BUgger... it was exciting, as I said in the comment above, but both you feel bad too...

    Thanks for the comment!

  • Yeah, it reminds me of when i was on the coast with the tornado a few years ago. I work at Classic Hits / NEwstalk ZB, we get excited cause it's news we can plug... but we feel bad for the farmers as you said.

    Thanks for the comment!

  • I am one of many storm chaser weather enthusiasts from the canterbury region hoping for an interesting seaGreat video would have loved to chase but was stuck in chch working.

Possibilty of more thunderstorms and hail tomorrow probly not as big although up to 15mm in diamter which is about pebble size

  • What an awsome severe thunderstorm that one turned into not so great for the farmers though.

Last time there was hail of golf ball size was back in 2002 when there was several tornado touch downs.
