The "mark" of the beast is symbolic. It means: You will know an anti-Christ when you see someone hating instead of loving.

...The trick is being able to recognise what the mark is. The beast is counting on a huge percentage of Christianity that will unknowingly, and in some cases advocate taking the mark in an effort to save civilized society.
