finally. i lived it. the best gig of the days i lived through.
the YYYs, the only band with a female vocalist that got me really in love with.
after two incredible albums, they came back with the one that called the entire world to dance with them, until heads roll on the floor.
missed the supporting band (but they turned out to be friendly, beautiful people.)
the scene decor, the lighting effects, Karen O s dresses, Nick s dad s birthday, random people, everything was stunningly awesome. apart from the tech guys.
sooo, i arrived late with a friend, so we basically missed the supporting band, but we managed to mosh through the crowd after we arrived. then during the show, we progressively progressed until finally attaining the front row.
a huge eyeball staring at us, i became spastic and lived through the gig as if it was the last night of my life.
Karen was astoundingly sensual and powerful. her vibrant energy communicated to the crowd.
Nick, you just can t use words to describe him. i suppose how you feel of him is enough to let you understand how i thought he was.
Brian, the drummer, the guy who nobody pays attention to in concerts, cause he s the one at the back who s stuck on a chair, behind three tons of drums. but i admire him a lot, as a person, and as a musician. it s good to know artists care about their fans (not acting as hypocrites). so i just stared at him in awe during the show several times. then i had the 'can t be true' impression of: wait a second, brian s actually smiling at me. (??)
after the eyeball turned into the moon, other great songs were played, and confetti were falling for the third time. down boy got me insane. the crowd was mental.
after the show, after begging vainly the roadies/techs to provide me with any garbage (or anything really) linked with the band, i met this amazing roadie at the merch stand. a 'in and out burger' sticker caught my eye on her laptop. talked to her: she looked cool, was vegan, and was indeed interesting. then when i had to leave, i tried my last attempt, and she gave me three pins. i was so thrilled..
then when i grabbed my jacket, was forced out of the venue (which is really really good for a medium size one), met random people waiting in the streets. finally, after a (long) while, HTRK came out. a guy with them (not in the band though) took a picture of the band, and us, together. cause they kindly asked us if we wanted to be on it. i mean, honestly, which band would do that?
after the innumerable boxes, and HTRK, Nick appeared. everyone rushed to him. then Brian came too.
photographs, autographs, all flashed. talked about everything from the Horrors to how it s like to be vegetarian.
i felt as if i stopped living for a fraction of a second.
