Agricultural SolutionsGlobally the agricultural sector produces huge amounts of waste, primarily consisting of organic biomass material, which provides feedstock for WTE projects or can be used as a raw material in the production of sustainable resources which act as a substitute for non-renewable materials. The fundamental drivers for wide spread development of Agricultural Solutions are clear; the production of clean energy, improved community, local and regional environmental conditions especially air and water quality, the reduction of agricultural wastes, and utilization of co-products from Anaerobic Digestion ("AD"). In AD technology, organic matter in wastewater is micro-biologically converted in the absence of oxygen to biogas, a mixture of mostly methane and carbon dioxide. The biogas produced can be collected and used on-farm, either as a direct source (e.g. for heating water) or converted to electricity. The choice of which AD design to use at a given livestock operation is driven by the existing or planned manure handling system. Municipal solid waste digestion and urban food waste are the newest areas for AD technology and are an exploratory area for Sindicatum Carbon Capital. The most recent is for source-separated feedstock, for which there are estimated to be over 150 commercial-scale plants. These plants have a combined capacity in excess of six million tonnes per year and the number of plants planned is increasing rapidly.
