obviosly you dont know how to ride if ur uncle is riding a cr80 i rode that when i was 10.... and by the way it would smoke a ds80. So to the guy at the top, thats way to small for ur son. im only 5 foot and i ride a 125

A beginning rider would not want the same bike as an experienced rider.
The cr80 is an advanced racing bike, where the ds80 is an entry-level trail bike.
The size of the cylinder is about the only thing they have in common.
An experienced rider does not need to have both feet on the ground when straddling a bike, but a beginning rider will enjoy a lower bike to learn on.

My son is 11 and he wants a dirtbike. Is a DS80 a good size for him? He's about 4'9" or 4'10"

Although the DS80 (now sold as JR80) may still fit your son, he may be already outgrowing it. You might see if he's tall enough for a Honda CRF100F, which has a lot of aftermarket support for enhancing performance as he moves into his teen years. That's assuming more interest in trail riding than motocross racing.
