This is my son's Zetalink Four Letter Word. (Zetalink seems to be out of business now, unfortunately). It uses huge, old Nixie B7971 tubes to display various four letter words, and is set to "hangman" mode where it slowly completes the word one segment at a time.

  • These tubes are not Nixies proper, but rather Numitrons. Nixies display a predefined character set and are non-changeable. (They are not segmented.)

  • @SpeakerPolice Actually they are called Alphanumeric NIXIE Tubes by Burroughs, the company that made them. Numitrons only have seven segments.
