- Music : Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff - Vocalise
- Pianos & Orchestra by Ronnie Aldrich
- Paintings by : Gustave Leonard Jonghe (1829 -1893)
- Artist biography:
Gustave de Jonghe (Belgian artist ) was born in Kortrijk in 1829. After he starting his artistic training with his father, Jean-Baptist de Jonghe he studied under François-Jean Navez at the Academy of Brussels. This was mainly due to the small pension granted him by Corportation of Curtrai after his parents died...
De Jonghe's work follows the trends of much Belgian art. He started his career painting historical and sacred subject matter in the French academic style, but he is famous today for his genre paintings with bourgeois themes and rich materials. These amazing masterpieces in oil work with high skills to achieve realistic textures, and historical allusions in their compositions. His painting style was very much influenced by friend and fellow artist Louis Gallait. In 1855, he became the direct successor of the renowned Belgian painter, Alfred Stevens, in Paris. His painting, "The Birthday Wishes" was exhibited at the Royal Academy of London in 1875.
