Somalia appeals for more troops to beef up troubled region

http://www.ntv.co.ke The crisis in the Horn of Africa continues to dominate headlines in the international media. One of the appeals by the transitional federal govt in Somalia has been for the beefing up of the troops from the African Union. Uganda is among those countries with soldiers doing duty in that theater of conflict.

Somalia is a dangerous country to work in. Its also a country that has a people that would very rather prefer to deal with their own issues without the interference of outsiders. I know that so far they have failed doing so. But i think the failure will be worsened by the presence of unwanted and unwelcomed elements. I hope these Ugandan brave soldiers- and all the others-will be able to accomplish even a little progress in this direction, though that remains just a hope.
