West Ghent, Columbia County
A stubborn industrial fire in West Ghent Wednesday night
kept volunteers from 4 neighboring communities (Stottville, Stockport, Ghent) busy putting out a construction and debris fire near 2 tanker trailers of highly flammable mineral oil. The fire, at TCI, Inc., got its start in two large open dump trailers filled with construction debris.
TCI provides disposal services for obsolete electrical equipment. Their web site says TCI provides environmally safe dispotal of oil filled PCB electrical equipment.
The big fear, according to West Ghent Fire Chief, James Cesternino, were two tank trailers filled with low flash point, flammable mineral oil.
