ebay has a nearly infinite selection of records - yet, that ruins the thrill of the hunt. you know going into it that you are almost guaranteed to find what you want. there's no nervous excitement on the way to the record store or flea market or as you're approaching a box of records at a garage sale that maybe they'll have what you want - and that adrenaline rush when that record you've been hot on the trail of for years is finally staring you in the face

do u ship to europe??

And every record for sale is graded using "your" system (the goldmine standard) on Discogs, That isn't the case on Ebay where a lot of sellers don't grade at all or use some made up shit like "EX" or "average".

I think Discogs is far better than Ebay.
First of I don't live in the US and a lot of sellers om Ebay only ship to NA. On Discogs most sellers ship worldwide.
On Discogs you add records you want to buy to your wantlist and if you look for a specific record you can see if the seller have more records you want and save on shipping, that is a lot harder on Ebay cause you have to search the sellers inventory instead of just getting it listed.

GEMM is also good.
you forgot the EX grading.
Something that I do is I will contact the seller by email before I bid on some records to ask them specificly if there are any scratches or scuff on the lp? Any writing or bends on the cover and if there are any skips or pops when record is playing. Unless a record says Near Mint I try to clarify the records specifically and not assume my defition of VG+ is the same as the sellers. This also can show how good the communication will be with that seller if there is a problem.

@mrhoffame Excellent point. Direct communication with a seller is an excellent way to determine the legitimacy of the information in the auction. Obviously, if the record in question has a buy it now price of $.99, you'll probably be less concerned, but if you're looking at purchasing a rare $100 record from the 60's, direct communication is essential.
