Hi, This is Vi Adkins from Foremost Resumes.com. In this video tutorial / screencast, I'm going to show you how to make customized tabs on the Facebook page for your business. Here you see my Facebook page for my resume writing business, and you can see that I've created 5 separate tabs to help market my business using the social networking tool, Facebook. This is my Resume Services tab, and you can see that a version of my website's home page is being fed into my Facebook Page. What's really neat is that you click on the Request a Price link at the bottom, and it will take you directly to the form on my website.

The 1st thing to do to make a custom tab for your Facebook Page, is to set up an app. The idea of working with an app or developing an app, scares off many people. But I don't know how to make or develop a Facebook app, but it was easy for me to make a custom tab. (I am logged into Facebook under my personal account.) So, having logged into Facebook as Vi Adkins, the 1st thing to do is to go to the search tab at the top of the page and search for the word "developer". That brings up the Developer app in the search results. Select that and on the right side of the page that appears, click on the Set Up New App button. This is an important point: the 1st time that I used the Set Up New App button, I didn't get this screen. Facebook kept giving me a screen that wanted me to verify my account. I was stymied, but I figured out that I needed to submit a credit card number or cell phone number to my Facebook account to verify my account and get to the screen you see here. So you need to do this before you can set up a custom tab on your Facebook Page.

All right, I'm going to give this app a name. It can be any name, and I'm going to name this app Vi Resume Writer. Then I Agree to the Facebook terms and click on Create App. Then I have to type in this captcha so Facebook knows I'm not a spammer or computerized robot, then click on the Submit button. Now Facebook is taking a few seconds to confirm that I am not a robot and takes me to the information page to set up the app for my new custom tab.

Next I want to put in a description for this custom tab. To do that I paste in some text.

I've made an icon and logo for my custom tabs. To add an icon to the app, click on Change Your Icon, then Browse. In the File Upload window I see my jpg image file for my icon. I select that then hit the Open button. The image gets uploaded and you can now see your icon. Next click on Add Your Logo and then Browse for that file, select that image file, then click on the Open button. Now I can see the icon and logo that are now associated with this app. Now hit the Save Changes button at the bottom of this page / form.

You are now taken to the page for this app.
