Grishuk & Platov - Nagano Memorial 98

Best dance team ever. That is their legendary performance in Olympic Nagano in 1998. They won gold medals for this outstanding performance. Pasha and Eugeniy are the only dance team to win two Olympic gold medals. Bravo!!!

The brilliance of this performance does however annoy some "has-beens" (or it's better to say "has-never-been's") like Tracy Wilson whose olympic bronze in 1988 is sadly her highest achievement. In this video she makes comments of utmost stupidity and jealousy. Well, the world has forgotten you, miss, but we still remember Evgeniy Platov and Oksana "Pasha" Grishuk!

Tatiana Tarasova, the duo's trainer, has a nervous breakdown at the end of the video. She is comforted by her colleague and long time friend Elena Chaikovskaya! Wonderful moment!

This is one of the greatest performances of all time. I love America, but the CBS lady announcer is total loser. Sometimes, we americans can not be gracious losers. I wateched this live, and even as an amateur eye, no other duo came even close to this performance. They blew everybody out of the water. There were also accusations of score fixing amongst the judges. Again, it does not matter, the performance speaks for itself. Simply beautiful!

@Proustable Oh yes, she called it wrong here for sure... a great program, even if (don't hate me for saying this) it reminds me of Torvill and Dean's Bolero (the music, costume colour, single theme etc).

I love Tracy Wilson - the announcer - (though even a decade later she didn't seem to learn the lesson) but she was so wrong here. They weren't polished? Seriousy? This is the very definition of polished - a staggeringly intense performance that to this day is one of ice dancing's masterpieces. You don't want to take a breath because you think it might shatter the mood.
