Low frequency waves from the controlled detonation of 100 tons of high explosives in the Negev Desert in Israel were detected as far as 6,500km away by CTBTO infrasound stations, including in Russia, Kazakhstan and in Mongolia.
Watch how this new CTBTO scientific experiment, involving over 20 countries, helps scientists fine tune how they interpret infrasonic waves — a capability crucial for detecting atomic explosions and to better establish their location and when they occurred.
