  • What an interesting and rewarding career it must be working for the Flying Doctors. I would love to be one of the pilots.

  • Well the RFDS got my mother to the Royal Adelaide for emergency surgery. I have nothing but praise.

I wouldn't stop supporting them. Many of country people still depend on them.

  • @fatkinson2011 hhmm yeah never thought about that. airstrips require no people stationed there technically (with an adroit pilot that doesn't require some landing crew i guess!). That's interesting. Most of central aus is totally barren (red centre) from what I gather so it's an interesting regional/geographical safety health situation or something. It certainly is odd though but understandable given teh terrain I reckon. are there med supplies in planes? it's a cool title rfds lol.

  • Every time the RFDS plane flies over my house. I couldn't help but salute it as it passes

  • @johntkucz Imagine the cost of putting a mini-hospital in every small Australian community? No, it's better to fly them back for treatment.

  • @johntkucz Almost right. The RFDS is a mixture of aviation, medical, and radio technology.

Have you ever seen that old radio set where one person uses a pair of bicycle pedals to crank the generator while the other one operates the radio? That was developed for the RFDS way back when they flew to places that didn't have electricity.

  • i am really proud for my dad for choosing the RFDS to work for.Now i am based in derby wa.My dad flies a pilatus PC-12.Wich makes me VERY proud of him.

  • @johntkucz its cheaper & plus the planes are pretty much flying ambulances.....

  • Okay wait, so they have all these RDS airstrips around? Why not just put mini hospitals in place of the airstrips instead? (the song at the end is from iMovie sound files I think).

  • The title RFD sounds like something form Dr. who.

  • @wallaby4 Yeah I was just thinking of how awesome that would be. Medicine and aviation. awesome combo.

  • I want to know the music for the ad. I can't find it - and its kinda haunting me.
