I've just been transported back 40 years, first time I've heard that theme tune in a long, long time.
In my memory it was always quicker - I suppose time really does fly when you enjoy yourself!

It's such a shame that a lot of the episodes were destroyed, some are on DVD though, the one that always stands out in my memory from when I saw it is one that unfortunately was amongst the destroyed ones, it was when some of the Freewheelers were trapped by some villains inside a tunnel or large pipe, I remember being elated when they got freed and got their own back on the villains :), I couldn't have been more than 7 years old yet I understood it all.

This show is now being repeated on FILM 4,thought you would all like to know.

Great theme tune.

Im reasonably sure its the old end theme to 'World in Action' called 'private eye' by another great tv composer called Laurie Johnson. So glad the dvd has been released along with 'Escape into night' and 'The Jensen code' - They dont make them like that anymore, sadly.

Any one know what the music used at the END of each epesode of the programme is called.

Steve, do you remember a kids programme [British} from the 70's, where these kids went investigating paranormal things, and in one episode, these stones had eyes in them, and moved?

That would be Escape Into Night made in 1972. It was adadpted for the screen by my friend Ruth Boswell from Catherine Storr's novel, Marianne Dreams. It was made into a film called Paperhouse in 1988.
The serial DOES still exist but only as B&W, 16mm film recordings - the colour tapes having been wiped some time ago.
