Glider Elevator Ride Up Mount Nebo

Glider flying up the face of Mt. Nebo just east of Nephi, Utah using and climbing in the winds coming off the face of the mountain. The glider is an ASW20B 15-meter sailplane piloted by Bruno Vassel IV (B4).

Are you iinstrument rated?

@allisonmodels Nope. I have my power license but don't fly power quite enough to justify getting an instrument rating yet. Will start the training once I can get back to flying power planes over 75 hours a year. In 2011 I ended up flying gliders around 160 hours for the year so that didn't leave too much time for the Cessna. :) Take care, Bruno

Bruno somehow puts himself into situations so he flies only in lift, I assume to offset the fact that I am continuously in sink. I guess that keeps the world in balance. :-)

sometime you should also have a chase glider/plane. It would be great to see how you're positioned relative to the ground (i.e. how close you get)

Quick questions for a never flier (dabbled with soaring models)

Is the wind coming right to left or left to right?

That flat light over snow must be very concerning, even at ground level it makes things hard, but from above it must make it very tricky indeed.
