Uyghur dance: Dolan meshripi (CCTV dance competition)

This dance was the most acclaimed performance among the competition's 120 performances which includes various folk dance,hip-hop,ballet,latin...dances,so it got one of ten best performance and second place award.Last year,the golden cup was given to the Uyghur dance Dolanliqlar,again this year(April,2007) the only Uyghur dance is the best performance!!!

The Dolan Uyghur clothing much remind of the Balkar traditional clothing: high hats, both on ladies covered with a headscarf over, and men - high Astrakhan fur hats, long dark well-tailored gowns over white clothing with long pants on ladies and dark gowns over white clothing on men. Also dance movements are quite similar. The Balkar people are from the Caucasus, they are the descendants of the ancient Bulgars - the original Caucasians, speak a Turkic language. There is a definite link here.

@ymhktravel Uyghurs are not only facing the problems that are Chinese people facing but also cultural genocide. You probably know that Chinse gov is sending Chinese people to the landof Uyghurs. Those Chinese people who come to East turkistan they know they r occupiers and they do not respect Uyghur culture, they do not learn Uyghur languages but they force Uyghurs to learn Chinese.Would you like it if Uyghurs pourt into your home town and attack you?

Beautiful music and dance! I can clearly feel the people's love and passion for their culture!

I dislike commenting on politics on such profound works of art, yet I am quite disturbed by the degree of ignorance presented in the amount of irrational and malicious comments. I study ethnic relations in Canada, and from what I have seen, China has one of the best minority protection laws in the world, certainly better than what Canada has ever done for their native peoples.

it says CCTV competition, so it is organised by the Han Chinese? So what do you mean keep it from the Chinese? it's not the common han chinese that giving justice to teh uyghurs, it's the CCP govt. The same CCP govt is also doing injustice to the han chinese by forcefully taking away their lands with little compensation and they are also protesting against the system. So blame the govt who happens to be Han chinese, but not the average han chinese people who are also subj to same injustices.
