To do a plie in ballet dancing, open the knees over the toes, pressing down and back, and then straighten and tighten the legs, keeping the back straight and the hips tucked under. mhmm, IDTA Grade 4 ballet, 2nd routine involves both demi and full plies in 3rd position.
