A song about the shops down the end of our road.

Lyrics:
Pensioners with thick glasses, clutching onto their bus passes
Lurching round in ancient shoes
Shopping cheap at Heron Foods
20p for tasteless fish
We will all end up like this...

Poor commuter stuck in traffic, not exactly too ecstatic
Driving round you hear them shout,
On the clogged-up roundabout
There's somewhere they've got to be
In the local industry

Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii'm going down to Cotteridge
Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiii'm going down to Cotteridge

Homeless man being a nuisance, growling at those sixth form students
Lurching round he makes a stop
At the bins at of a sandwhich shop
He doesn't get a lot of help
He makes things work for himself

Chorus

Love at first sight at a chip shop, quick romance at a tacky bus stop
Walking round all dopey-eyed,
Is it publicly justified?
Sat on a bench watching this
On you behalf, I'm embarrassed.

Chorus x2

  • There was something about this song I never could put my finger on, but I've just realied; it's the "on the [something I couldn't understand, and can't be bothered to go back and listen to; I think it might bet 'broke up'] roundabout" sounds just like that Johnny Flynn song, the one about people dying inside your head...

  • @BilboB8 Haha, well it's not about people dying inside your head I can safely assure you. Actually not heard of Johnny Flynn before, will look him up. And it's "clogged-up roundabout", btw.
