Wake up and smell the pot. The drug war is absolutely USELESS. The DEA needs to constantly provide propaganda to create a reason to exist. While our nation's economy and natural resources continue to decline, an extremely versatile plant is foolishly being ignored, and even demonized by those who know absolutely NOTHING about HEMP . Since the inception of the DEA, drug use has shot up dramatically. It is statistically PROVEN that countries who eliminate, or substantially reduce drug laws enjoy a reduction in use as well as a HUGE savings to the people. On top of that, ANYTHING made with wood or oil can be made from hemp. It's no wonder that the tobacco, alcohol, oil, and timber industries donate millions of dollars a day to the "partnership for a drug free America". Even though hemp "marijuana" has killed ZERO people! Almost 3/4 of a million people per year are jailed for marijuana related offenses. We jail more people per capita than any other country on Earth (with maybe Russia as an exception). Regardless, the blatant stupidity must stop! Contact your congressman/woman and urge them to support industrial HEMP production. Industrial HEMP cant get you high anyway. HEMP was the first crop to ever be estimated as a billion dollar a year crop in 1937! To adjust for inflation, that would be $14,814,320,069.55 Today! We have the technology to make HEMP into anything you can think of. HEMP products are of superior quality to wood and oil based products. Fewer chemicals are needed to process HEMP into paper or plastic. HEMP plastic can safely bio-degrade over time unlike the oil-based plastics we use today. Need I say anymore?

Pot growers will never plant in/near a hemp farm. They don't want hemp to fertlize the cannibis grown for smoking. DUH, get a grip America!!!

Hemp in any area can mess up a sensimilla crop from fairly long distances. That blows the whole "growing weed in the middle of hemp crops" argument out of the water.

A company I used to work for, used hemp in several of their products. The literature we had about hemp noted the THC in hemp is considerably minute & it would take a joint the size of a telephone pole to get high off it.

Wonderful radio broadcast, thanks for posting. Hugh Downs was a good man. Now that we have found that THC cures cancer and other medical issues, they may have to come around. The problem is both the profit motives of the big drug companies, and the lack of ability to think clearly (heh) of the anti-drug crowd. They're too full of self-righteous religious fervor to consider they might be wrong about consciousness-alterating medicines.

I tried to explain this in a paper I did on Cannabis once but people didn't seem to get it and still don't get it! Hemp IS Cannabis, Cannabis IS Hemp. Whether its the female Cannabis plant or the male Cannabis plant, it is HEMP, dam!. I read some of these comments with people informing others that Hemp is not pot, but it IS, I'm not saying its a bad thing, I think its a great thing. They are one in the same no matter what your opinion is or what you think.

Marijuana is derived from the same plant as broccoli and cauliflower. Since the government sees hemp as dangerous since it can produce a "lethal" drug, broccoli and cauliflower must be dangerous too. I demand an immediate nationwide ban on broccoli.

That or the government admits they banned hemp in the 1930's to make sure the oil, timber, paper, ect. industries wouldn't have to compete with a wonder plant.

Hemp can do just about everything. Legalize it, fools.
