1984 was a sad time for classic arcade games like this. Others released the same year that were overshadowed by the 1983 North American Video Game Crash and the North American release of the NES include Irem's Kung-Fu Master, Namco's The Tower of Druaga and Pac-Land, Data East's Karate Champ and Tecmo's Star Force.

@Luigi84289 It was also when Nintendo IRD spent its hardest effort. At the same time, they were also developing Zoda's Revenge: StarTropics II, the sequel to StarTropics. The Happy Video Game Nerd hates the sequel, but I don't hate it.

Very cool and informative! :-)

Most people don't know the snes title was a sort of nod to it's arcade predecessor. It borrows all the game play mechanics and a lot of the enemies old strategies.

I used to love playing Punch-Out! in the arcade back in the day. Now days I just play it using MAME. Cool video.
