A few highlights from recent training with Balzac. With shorter days its getting hard to get good footage and most of our good moments happened when Balzac and I were under a street lamp somewhere in oakland working on the bits and pieces. The first bit is the Work Away, this is when the dog does Positions facing away from you. After that is the business card retrieve or delivery. Very commercial, very magical. After that we have the electric scooter, I'm so glad Zap Motors gave me this thing, Balzac loves it too. Then we have Felix Sunga, friend and trusted Suitman. Balzac got to show us his grips while we poked the camera in his face. We also worked on some stuff that our friend Yann Armand had observed about how Balzac was stuck in the "gesture of guarding" and didn't understand true guarding. From this I took that he was stuck in what I call a Vigilance Only guard rather than a guard that is reinforced with obedience. Thanks to Yann for the observation. Thanks to Felix for the work. Thanks to Norma for filming!

  • Do you have any response to this? I would like to know.

    Thanks

  • This is a different question but gotta ask:

    Pit Bull hater site...(Craven Desires)

    there's a statement floating around:

"i have said that pit bulls are being crossed into the malinois to increase prey drive and athleticism. i know somebody in schutzhund who says that these dogs don't like to let. total hearsay, i haven't see it with my own eyes.

    and then this:

"Take a close look at Balzac in the first photo...You can clearly see someone has been fooling around with that dog's bloodline."

  • Great dog, great video, great song, great mustache
