I met Michael on the streets of Denver, playing his guitar. After being a personal nurse for someone who kicked him out, he returned to the streets he'd been on for 20 years before.

Michael never panhandles; instead he plays his acoustic guitar on the streets. If you listen to him, it's not hard to imagine how he makes enough money to get by. But recently, the Denver police have been cracking down on ordinances that ban him from playing music between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m., despite being quieter than the loud buses and bars around him.

It's hard to see how such talented people (like Rico from last week http://invisiblepeople.tv/blog/2010/02/rico-homeless-hollywood) can end up in such tough circumstances. How many people with hope and talent do we pass each day, dismissing them because they have nowhere to call home?

  • @bignhairydude Its hard to get jobs...and the jobs they get don't get them off the streets. I personally know many of the homeless in Denver and they can't help the situation they're in...many of them are mentally unstable and others can't find jobs! Quit being so ignorant and judgemental!

  • its hard being homeless i been homeless for 3 months and living my car due low paying job i only make $350 a month. Its even harder to hide that you are homeless . Life Sucks and im only 19

  • Why not find a band to join? It is almost good money, depending on where you play at. When ever I get laid off, I used to go on tour with a country band to play keyboards. I would suggest get with a band on the road and save as much money as possibly to help you get back on your feet. Also join a church music group as they could offer some money too. Being a musician has it's advantages as well as bad points.

  • @RagingAspius So true!

  • @bignhairydude Yeah, well hopefully this will never happen to you. Gee, I can't understand why so many people (such as you), have no compassion for the less fortunate.
