Joseph John Gryniuk Sr., World War II veteran, and lifelong resident of Torrington Connecticut talks about his combat experiences, and service during the Second World War. Mr. Gryniuk served in the European Theater assigned to the famed Darby's Rangers. Mr. Gryniuk tells of his escape from certain demise as his unit got "wiped-out" at Cisterna, while he was recovering in a hospital in North Africa from other injuries. After the Darby's Rangers suffered catastrophic losses, Mr. Gryniuk was re-assigned to the elite, First Special Service Force.
