Lyrics:

It was 9-29,9-29 back street big city.
The sun was going' down, there was music all around
It felt so right.

It was one of those nights, one of those nights when
you feel the world stop turnin',you were standing
There, there was music in the air.I should have been
Away,but I knew I'd have to stay.

CHORUS

Last train to London, just headin' out,
Last train to London, just leavin' town.
But I really want tonight to last forever
I really wanna be with you.
Let the music play on down the line tonight.

It was one of those nights, one of those nights when
You feel the fire is burnin',everybody was there,
Everybody to share,it felt so right.

There you were on your own, lookin' like you were
The only one around,I had to be with you,
Nothin' else that I could do,
I should have been away, but I knew I'd have to say.

Repeat Chorus

Underneath a starry sky, time was still but hours
Must really have rushed by,I didn't realize
But love was in your eyes I really should have
Gone, but love went on and on...

Repeat Chorus

  • kakazimka, perhaps you should be the one to read more carefully and think twice before attacking me. I was trying to point out that someone in the band was singing off key. This happens a lot during live gigs. Listen again to the video, and you'll hear what I am talking about.

I love ELO, but if you're going to take comments about them personally, then you shouldn't allow any at all.

  • @Roobok05 Don´t wanted to attack you...I just have enough to read how people complain what is wrong or that this is not ELO because Jeff is not there..sure it is not ELO it is The ORCHESTRA...I was at the gig and it was fantastic even without Jeff. This video is not perfect and do not show the band in their best, but I simply dont want to delete it because of Kelly. This is his last Prague gig... and I feel sorry to read what you wrote about letting team down.

  • Vocals are flatter than a pancake - quite painful to listen to. Someone's letting the team down, surely it's not Troyer, because he's not a bad vocalist (and he's a darn good writer).

Still, Lynne and Bevan were the true ELO stars.

  • @Roobok05 think twice before you say something! Kelly Groucutt definitely didnt let the team down!!! He was great musician !!! And Phil Bates is great singer and writer, he is fantastic bluesman, nothing wrong with his voice !!! Jeff lynne was the founder of Elo and his music is great thats true, but he is gone from this band!...If it is painful for you, dont listen to it then.

  • miss the good old days!

  • Okay kakazimka, I didn't suggest deleting the video - I wouldn't want you to do that. It is just in the chorus part of the song that someone is off key - not the main vocalist.

Some years ago, I went to see ELO in Johannesburg (No Jeff, and no orchestra at all - just a band of 4 guys - ELO Part 2). Everyone had a great time all the same.

BTW, I am a huge Shirley Bassey fan, and you could hardly find a better vocalist in the world than she is, yet I have heard a few flat notes with her too.

  • It doesnt matter...for you. For the most of elo fans Jeff lynne is the soul of Elo, remember several things. Jeff lynne was the founder of Elo..a long time ago before kelly groucutt, jeff is the writter, the producer, he made the most of bacground vocals, he is the lider voice, he was the elo, the rest of member were musicians around jeff, it they had not been there at that moment, other musicians had been there.

  • Jeff Lynne is the best!!

  • it doesn't matter that jeff lynne isn't there because kelly groucutt is there. he carried half the vocal work on the original track and that bass line being properly executed is the most important part of the song.

  • non mi convince!!!!!!
