For centuries, Caravaggio life remained an enigma and it was not until last decades when his unique methods of painting could be explained, but also 1600 was a dangerous time, when gentlemen or artists like him used to bring a knife along always and be prepared to fight once they were walking on Rome streets by night, M's style was not a tamed art and Catholic Popes attitudes towards him were also ambivalent, this film reveals such contradictions and preserve the enigma of such a men and times.
