Orlando based , The Legendary JC's (JC stands for Joint Cheifs) always has a story behind the story.. What are they? A funk band that is infused with R&B that you have to see live to really appreciate them. Why live, because you never know who will "show Up" and what there performance will be, except very entertaining and memorable. This event happedend at Skippers Smokehouse, which has its magic of its own.. plus it was my Birthday, so it was really cool!
There particular show.. I really don't think it was planned like this. They were to start at 8pm, and not all the band was there.. There were enough for a performance, the front man, harmonica player, two guitar players and a bass player. No Drummer... drum set was there.. So what did they do?
The Frontman, put a mic about two inches from the stage floor, and stomped the bass beat, while he clapped his hands. He performed four songs this way, before he added a snare drum that he slapped with his hands, as he stomped the beat... I believe it was truly improved and not part of their normal repitrore. I say this because of the talk of keys, and how he was directing them.
I have seen this group at least two other times, all of their performances are different and unique, but this I had never seen before. So in my opinion they did not dissappoint and view this as a treat.
After performing for about an hour, the Trombone Player and the female singer did arrive, but the drummer did not. However they were able to find a drummer, he did an excellent job filling in.. but one could tell he needed to be told what to play for each song.
Is it part of the JC's mystique... I really don't think so, I truly think the drummer was MIA..
Thats a great improve!
