Join me on a hunt for a record book Himalayan Thar in the mountains of Nepal in the Dhorpahtan hunting reserve which is basically several days hike from the nearest basic civilisation. We did this hunt on the way out the mountains after a successful Blue sheep hunt which was conducted at much higher altitudes. The altitude in this hunt was around 12,300 ft which was no problem at all after the heights we had previously been at. The climb on this hunt was one of the steepest and hardest climbs I have or probably will ever make. The guide moved at such a pace once he had spotted the Thar as he did not want it to move back into the shade like it had done by the time we encountered him.
He scored just over 15" and truly was a once in a lifetime trophy. My big regret is I did not get a full mount done!!

Rifle Used was a .300Win Mag Rifle Craft Rem700 with a Swarovski 6-24X50
Bullet - 210gr Berger VLD which dropped the bull in his tracks with a shot to the centre of his shoulder.
