  • Can you also animate the Akron crashing into the sea on April 4th, 1933?

  • @puterboy1 - I made still image

  • Thanks for your comments.

Yes, I'm working on bigger Macon animation right now.. The objects I've build so far can be seen at my still CGS gallery - link in clip info (upside right)

  • hey awesome, is that a game?

can you fly the akron in it?

if so, i gotta buy it

  • No, it's modeling, rendering and animation software. You can't "fly" things in it.

  • lol thats from flight simulator i have that

  • Nope. You're wrong. Models, environment and animation are made from scratch. I don't know what you have, nor I care, but definitely not this..

  • I love the Akron. It was a flying aircraft carrier for the US. It carried little sparrowhawk planes in its hull and released them over the battlefield.

  • Actually, Zeppelins are making a comeback as a tourist sight-seeing carrier. And your original comment was that "they all crashed and burned", which was factually incorrect.

And you're what we in the USA call a doofus.

Now move along, please, and leave this channel to those who are familiar with its subject matter.

  • My grandfather flew in the Akron. He was Carl Chadborne Dean. He died in the crash in 1933. Wish I had known him!

  • @deezynar

It only makes sense, considering she had to keep up with the aircraft she carried during aerial "landings".

If you think that's impressive, in a few weeks a new military airship, the LEMV, will be doing the exact same job- surveillance- with an expected top speed even higher and an endurance of up to a month!

Airborne Aircraft Carrier USS AKRON still sounds cooler than LEMV, though.

  • @Jjames763

    80 knots! Wow.

  • a game , get real oh yes 80s or90s kid live in dreamland as im 71 ,sorry kid but good try as i lived as a youngster when this happened

  • The Akron. Fastest Zeppelin in history, with a top speed of 80 knots. Aircraft carrier of the skies. Largest helium airship to ever fly at 785 feet. Carries a complement of up to five fighter-scout planes in an internal hangar. Can survey an area of ocean in 5 days the size of CALIFORNIA, before radar!

    Awesomeness: infinite.

Damn the incompetence responsible for her loss!! She could have prevented Pearl Harbor!

  • @paqman67 1. I was reffering to the "golden age" of airships. 2. you can't point out an individual incident and then say that proves something about millions of other incidents.

  • @Hypsan Yeah well, he essentially called me a stoned idiot, so get off your high horse.
