  • How do you remember all the book moves?

    Thanks for posting the game.

  • It is all about experience and reinforcement. A friend of mine took up this opening about 15 years ago and showed me one of his games in this variation.

Shortly after, I took up the French. Soon after that somebody surprised me with this opening and I didn't remember exactly what to do and I lost the game.

I later studied the line, and now it is imprinted in my brain.

With that said, I still didn't remember what do exactly after white played Bg5.

  • Nice game, nice video.

What software do you use? I want to find some chess software that has a square-highlighting and arrow feature, I think it would improve my videos.

  • Thanks, I used Chessbase Light. You can go to the chessbase website and download it for free. The only problem is that you can't save your games.

  • Great game, and interesting line, but the colored arrows seemed very random at times.

  • Thanks! Your right, I forgot to turn off the arrows.

  • amazing

  • at 1:37 , what should white play after Ne4? Should white play Qc1, Ne2, or g3? Thanks

  • what are you talking about? when did he use improper english?

  • Thank you! I just started with the french, and i love these videos!

  • Very nice video, im going to play this against the french now, But i do ask one thing, could you send my a messege with the notation and at the bottom go through all the diffrent variations, i would really apreciate it, thanks.

  • i think because of Qh7+ followed by the fall of the g6 pawn, whereas Nxf6 the queen cannot attack that pawn easily

  • at 4:12 why recapture the pawn w/ the knight? it seems like gxf6 is better. because Nxf6 leaves you with doubled isolated pawns
