Omg I stayed up all night watching the anime waiting for Matt and he came on and I Was all like YAY MATTMATTMATT!!! And he was all like "yay I'm alive! Now im dead..." and then I had to sit through my favorite characters death (Mello) FML

And only that little faggot who still plays with toys and isn't half the badass super-detective L was remains. And some other minor characters nobody cares about. But Near's the closest thing to a character anyone gives a rat's ass about in the end, so he claims the spotlight. It's almost like the end of Hamlet where Fortinbras walks in and grabs the crown because all the IMPORTANT characters killed each other off.
