The stereotype in the rest of the country is that washington is a rainy, forested place. That is not the case. 40% of the state is a dry, shrub steppe desert. I'm near Benton City / Prosser.

Washington state's nickname is "the Evergreen state" but i isn't that green in eastern Washington.that's why the population of the state is an awful lot higher in wet western Washington than dry eastern Washington.
