Hey everyone AlexTheLoneGunman here. It's been a long time since I posted a vid, it's been a long time since I've had the time to really practice with any gusto. A quick update on the pinched nerve in my left arm. Thanks to the efforts of my chiropractor I've regained about 80% of the feeling in my left hand. My ring finger is almost a 100% but my pinky still has some constant numbness, even thought its no where near the same intensity. Now to the vid. The family is all asleep and I'm watching some Pre-season basketball on a Friday Night. What a life I lead! lol I'm working on keeping my hand technique extremely consistant and smooth and focusing on my breathing, as they are going to be real important when I start reaching speeds over 200. Here I'm working mostly at 165, and I venture into 170 at one point. But I get sloppy and go back down to 165. The sticks are worn down and beat up Vic Firth 5B Extremes, the snare is the Mike Johnston Signature, the head is my daughters dora the explorer blanket. Any comments both intelligent or snide are welcome. peace all! www.myspace.com/xthelonegunmanx

  • Alex, Glad to hear your hand is recovering. Hope it continues to go well.

Also wanted to say that I live that life too. Blankets, pillows, whatever...as long as I don't wake the kids.

  • I don't know how rhythmic breathing pertains to drumming? I'd be interested in your thoughts. But my goal is to play fast and smooth for a long time. And to do that I need to be relaxed and focused. Making sure I take long, slow and deep breaths, I think in theory would help that.

  • 1. Go Cavs!

    2. re: Dora blanket... lmao, i'll have to try this technique on my daughter's pooh blanket!

  • GO LAKERS

  • i bet those paradiddles sound awesome on a real drumset... :) sorry about your hand, and really good luck with it... It's great to practice while watching the TV, i remember when I practiced guitar it really helped me a lot when i just played something while watching the tv. So, the conclusion is, i have to get a TV set in my room :). Anyways, keep up the good work, and also what's that about breathing over 200 bpm's? Is there a problem with rhythmic breathing at that point?
