Both Damia and Piaf recorded "L'Etranger" in 1936. There was not only difference in age between these two artists, there was difference in experience; Damia had been singing for more than twenty years then, whereas Piaf was making her first steps in the "industry". Damia seems to have gained a distance in her renditions, still dramatic; Edith's experience was troubled youth which enhanced imagination as it often happens with most of great artists at the beginning of their path.

wish that it'd bring you her talent.

  • My three things I could never live without.... 1. Edith Warton books, 2. the documentary Grey Gardens - the story of the two Edith Beales...and 3. Edith Piaf music. Am I the only guy with an "Edith fetish?" LOL
