  • Disagreeably vulgar...

  • Indeed. And agreeably so in keeping with the subject matter. This is art, lady.

  • Lulu is not for everyone, but on the scale of things, it is an important work.

  • I really don't get this. The first two minutes were a bit vulgar, the middle was a bit weird, and the finale seemed to actually be part of the opera, but I didn't understand the staging. Anyone with a grasp on these things care to explain?

  • @Laeliapurpurata Berg's opera is largely vulgar - as are Wedekind's plays. Jazz motiffs, subject matter so profane, but so enormously overwhelming that the opera has a legacy of its own. Now about this little movie: It's inexplicable and a bad example of messing around with art. I can't seewhy they only included Gerschwitz' singing and not Lulu's and Jack's. There is no need for a part-movie rendition as at the core of Lulu there IS a movie. It forms the opera's axis.

  • @Laeliapurpurata Agreeably vulgar.

  • @sirmercutio99 NIce racist troll racist. To me, a White Male descended from Europe, calling someone "eurotrash" "hillbilly" or anything like that is just as bad as "nigger" or "kike."

    Fuck off racist.

  • Funny how the most beautiful harmonies comes from atonal music...

  • @collielook I know a lot more about art than you... you sound exceedingly whelp-ish and jejune, so I'm going to take some time and put you in your rightful lowly place. Art can be vulgar... I'm quite sure Berg intended this opera to be vulgar. Do you know what Gesamtkunstwerk is? This is an example of bad Gesamtkunstwerk manifested, it isn't Berg's fault.

  • @Laeliapurpurata It is not vulgar... If you do not know anything about art, do not make a coment for, Alban Berg was a great artist after world war one.... This is just a style...

  • Lulù è un'opera splendida e dalle atmosfere torbide e malsane, ma qui si va a sconfinare nel disgustoso. Certe immagini sono granguignolesche, sembra un film di Dario Argento.
